Christmas is officially in full swing and the DIY Christmas gifts have increased like never before here on Creative Fashion Blog.
During the holidays, I absolutely love both giving and receiving handmade, thoughtful gifts from friends and other loved ones. There’s something so special about receiving a gift that took a little more time and effort than buying something cheap online. The downside: spending massive amounts of time and effort putting said handmade gifts together yourself.
That’s where today’s post comes in. Each project comes with step by step instruction, lots of photos, and even a free printable pattern or instructional video to follow along.
This year, you’ll be prepared to make awesome, DIY Christmas gifts your friends and family are truly excited to receive!
To create well-received DIY Christmas gifts, I personally believe they need to meet 3 criteria:
- It has to be useful. It’s a little more difficult for everyone to appreciate and keep a trinket over time (or as I call them, “space-taker-uppers”)
- It has to be well-made. Items that fall apart quickly and aren’t of good quality usually end up being replaced quickly.
- It has to be pretty… or at least not ugly. We all love giving and receiving DIY Christmas gifts, but let’s not get carried away and think that anything handmade is automatically going to be loved and adored for years to come.
So without further ado, let’s get making!

DIY INCENSE HOLDER FROM A RECYCLED VINYL RECORD
As the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, I love the calm ambiance of incense. With THIS TUTORIAL HERE, we’re going to make one (or four) from scratch out of a single vinyl record.

HOW TO SEW A VELVET SCARF
This season’s trends are all about plush velvet, rich textures, and extra-cozy fabrics. If you hate being cold as much as I do, you’re probably obnoxiously excited about being warm and stylish too. Don’t worry. I won’t judge. But seriously, when you feel absolutely chilled to the bone, I can’t think of a better way to warm up than by bundling up in luxurious-feeling fabrics and accessories!

DIY GOLD AND MARBLE SERVING TRAY
This tutorial is super simple and super versatile. I found this plain, white tray at a thrift store for about $2 but I know the dollar store sells similar ones too. It was fine and all before but I decided it’d be even better if it was a little more glam. Now this gold and marble serving tray is perfect for holding a champagne glass or cup of tea while you read in bed. It’s also an ultra-versatile home decor piece. I love how a simple tray defines a little corner and seems to visually ground everything on it. See the full DIY HERE.
