Today let’s take a mini-break from giving your closet a makeover and talk about your makeup routinne… specifically using magnetic lashes.
I feel like it’s kind of funny for me to be writing a beauty article like this because I don’t consider myself a beauty expert at all. Honestly, I consider myself more of a wannabe pretty girl that’s willing to cut every corner but still wants to look presentable when she leaves the house.
I don’t know about you guys, but I sure as hell don’t have a lot of time to spend on my morning beauty routine every morning.
I really don’t.
I have four kids that all have packed schedules and both my husband and I work from home. I don’t have time to spend an hour in front of the mirror putting on makeup to look my best every day. I have maybe 15 minutes …. max.
But over the years I’ve stumbled on some awesome beauty hacks and tricks that make getting ready so much faster and give you more reward for your short time-frame.
Because at the end of the day, we all just want to look and feel our best right?
I really believe that my favorite part of my entire beauty routine is using false eyelashes. They totally transform my face, wake up my eyes, and balance out the eye bags in a matter of seconds. On a regular day you’ll likely find me with false eyelashes, concealer, and a little bit of lip gloss. I feel like the trio gives your entire face a transformation in just a few minutes.
But are false lashes really saving you time?
For me… it absolutely has.
Let me break it down for you my friend.
About Eyelash Extensions
In the past, I had eyelash extensions maintained by a professional for over 6 years. Honestly, there were aspects of it that I loved. I loved how they made me feel so put together when I woke up and I loved the mini-therapy sessions I always had with my lash girl during my lash fills.
When your schedule gets really busy, there’s something so nice about having your eyes taped shut and laying on the table where there’s nowhere to go for a couple of hours.
With that being said, if you didn’t have a couple of hours to begin with, things start to get a little sticky….
When I took a hard look at all the time I was spending on my “time saving eyelash extensions” things just weren’t adding up.
It would take me about 20 minutes to drive to my last appointment (there and back) about 10 minutes to wait for my appointment and get on the table. From there, it was about an hour and a half to two hours every 3 weeks to get my actual eyelash fill. This equated to about three to six hours and $75 to $150 every month I was spending just on eyelashes.
I loved them so much, but that’s a high maintenance luxury in my book!
About Adhesive Strips
Regular adhesive strips are really handy and I love the variety you can get, but I don’t love how the glue can damage your natural lashes. That being said, you can buy luxury false eyelashes that last an entire month for about $50 and only spend two minutes every day putting them on.
When I broke that down, in 2 minutes (or about one hour each month) and only $50 I could have full, beautiful false lashes every day. Plus, when using adhesive lashes, I never had the sparse, in-between days where my lash extensions needed to be filled but I hadn’t got it for an appointment yet. With false eyelashes, every single day you have full, beautiful lashes.
You can check out my full post on adhesive lashes HERE plus my video tutorial on how to apply them.
Now, my latest discovery on false eyelashes is something so mind-blowing I had to really break it down further and write this post for you.
About Tori Belle Magnetic Lashes
It all started a few weeks ago when a friend of mine told me about a new company she was working with, Tori Belle. This startup had invented magnetic liquid eyeliner that works with magnetic strip lashes to hold them in place all day.
Basically, if you can apply eyeliner, the tiny magnets at the base of their false eyelashes will stick to the liner and holding place all day.
This was a total game-changer for me and I couldn’t wait to try it out. After several days of wearing these magnetic lashes consistently, I’m happy to report everything I’ve learned and even a few tips that might be helpful if you decide to go that route.
When you place an order with Tori Belle, you are going to receive a full liquid magnetic liner for free with every single lash purchase. Plus, you can buy their lashes individually so you can mix and match depending on your mood without needing to buy bulk batches.
The best part? Each lash set will last 30 wears so you got a lot of bang for your buck.
Trimming False Lashes
When you are applying Tori Bell lashes, I recommend trimming them to fit your last line first. You can do this by taking fingernail clippers or really small scissors and trimming from the outside, long edges. The point is to trim them so your magnetic lashes lay on top of your natural lashes nicely.
I like my false lashes to be about three-quarters of the length of my natural lash line. I don’t like to feel them on the inner corners of my eyes throughout the day.
When you’re trimming magnetic lashes, be sure that you cut them next to the outside edge of your next magnet. That way, when you are applying your lashes, you don’t have any edges that stick up and look wonky on your face.
After your lashes are trimmed to fit your eyes, break out your magnetic liner.
How To Apply Magnetic Lashes
Apply your magnetic liner just like you usually would. Tori Belle magnetic liner is going to apply a little thicker than your traditional liner but that’s okay because you want it to hold your lashes in place.
Wait about 30 seconds before applying a second coat and then repeat on your other eye.
Once your second eye’s eyeliner is dry (after about 30 seconds) you can apply your magnetic lash strips.
To apply my lashes, I got the cute little tweezers Tori Belle sells. I like the thick edge that won’t damage your magnetic lashes when you pick them up. If you don’t have them, don’t stress. Just use tweezers or even your fingers if you like.
Now, place the first magnet on the inner corner of your lash line and slowly lay the magnets down. You will feel the lashes pull and connect to your eyeliner but afterwards will not be able to feel them throughout the day.
In each eyelash kit, Tori Bell also includes little enhancer lashes that come for free. You can use these little enhancer lashes to secure the outside edges of your lashline if it makes you feel good. You can also use them to add more volume and drama for your next date night or event.
How To Remove Magnetic Lash Liner
Since the magnetic liner doesn’t smudge and move all day, you will also want to use a special yet gentle eye makeup remover to get it off. When you’re removing Tori Belle magnetic lashes, use their Shake It Off eye makeup remover. This stuff takes off everything from waterproof mascara to caked on eyeshadow and yes… even Magnetic eyeliner.
Shake your makeup remover to mix before applying it to a cotton swab. Then, set it on your eye and hold for 20 seconds. After 20 seconds, you should be able to easily wipe and remove the liner from your eye. The best part? No damage at all to your natural lashes!!!
So far I’ve tried about half of the Tori Belle product line out and I can’t wait to try the other half. It’s so fun to find valuable, useful additions to a low maintenance makeup routine.
Anytime I can simplify my morning process and still feel put together as a win in my book. In the end, adding magnetic lashes extended my adhesive lash routine by about a minute and a half but cost slightly less than adhesive lashes since I don’t need to pay for adhesive anymore. Now, it takes about 6 minutes to complete my makeup routine each morning.
