Today, we’re going to refashion a long sleeve top from a pair of basic leggings. I’m so excited about this project because it legitimately takes less than 30 minutes to complete and looks awesome! I plan on wearing this shirt as an athletic top with high-waisted legging when the weather is cold, as a layering top under bulky knits during winter, and under overalls or high-waisted shorts anytime.
I don’t think you would ever believe me if you only say the “after” picture but check out the two minute DIY video below to see the full tutorial and free pattern. When I initially showed Jon what I made he didn’t believe that I was able to refashion a long sleeve top from an old pair of leggings! There are many different ways to reuse old clothes into a new garment but this one takes the cake over other upcycle tutorials. You get rid of old leggings and get an adorable top. Win win! If you want to create this but not destroy a pair of your leggings, you can also head to the thrift store and grab some to experiment with.
My supply lists are shoppable for your convenience! Just click any aff. link below to get everything I’ll be using to complete this project without adding any errands to your day.
